Hi Daniel,

the place is called Coyote Buttes North (CBN) and the particular place seen on the picture is The Wave. The CBN are 30 miles west of Page, right on the Arizona/Utah border. You need a permit to get there which is quite hard to obtain. I've got a blog entry which describes a trick to get that permit (it's still a sure bet).

Cheers,
Volker

Thanks for the kind words, Volker. Great to hear that you enjoyed Yellowstone & the Tetons, and that you found Top Trails Yellowstone & Grand Teton National Parks a useful companion. My wife Morgan is indeed a photographer, and she taught me most of what I know about capturing light.

We're heading back to Greater Yellowstone this May to field research and update the 2nd edition of the book, with an expanded emphasis on photography, and our new passion, travel with your children.

Happy trails!
